**Ghafour Jahani** (born 19 June 1951 in [Bandar Anzali](/source/Bandar_Anzali), Iran) is an Iranian [football](/source/Association_football) coach and former player.

## Club career

Jahani mostly played for [Malavan](/source/Malavan).[1] At the age of 17, he was selected for the Gilan High school team, and joined Malavan upon the team formation in 1969.[2]

He was one of the key players of Malavan reaching the third place in the Iranian [Takht Jamshid](/source/Iran_Pro_League) in [1978](/source/1977%E2%80%9378_Takht_Jamshid_Cup). [1974](/source/1973%E2%80%9374_Takht_Jamshid_Cup) and [1977](/source/1976%E2%80%9377_Takht_Jamshid_Cup) he was the second best scorer of the [Iranian league](/source/Iran_Pro_League). He also won the Iranian Cup – [Hazfi Cup](/source/Hazfi_Cup) – in [1976](/source/1975%E2%80%9376_Hazfi_Cup).[2] He also played two matches with Malavan that represented Iran at the tournament under the country's name at the [1974 RCD Cup](/source/1974_RCD_Cup).[3]

## International career

Jahani was a member of the [Iran national team](/source/Iran_national_football_team) winning the football tournament of the [Asian Games in Tehran in 1974](/source/Football_at_the_1974_Asian_Games) as well as participating in [1976 Olympics in Montreal](/source/Football_at_the_1976_Summer_Olympics), when Iran reached the quarterfinals of the [Asian Cup 1976 in Tehran](/source/1976_AFC_Asian_Cup). He also played two games for Iran in the [1978 World Cup](/source/1978_World_Cup).[3][2]

Jahani scored 4 goals during the 1978 world cup qualifications' campaign, one of them was the winning goal against Australia in Tehran which qualified Iran for the 1978 World Cup in Argentina.[3][4][5]
