He attended [Greenville High School](/source/Greenville_High_School_(Mississippi)), where he was a standout defensive player for the Hornets. Rated a four-star recruit by several talent evaluators, Green played in the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star and the Semper Fidelis Bowl after recording  98 [tackles](/source/tackle_(move)), including 11.5 for loss, and 5.0 sacks in his senior year. Green spent five seasons as a member of the [Mississippi State Bulldogs](/source/Mississippi_State_Bulldogs_football), [redshirting](/source/redshirt_(college_sports)) his freshman season.
