# Gerhard Sperling

**Gerhard Sperling** (born 25 November 1937 in [Berlin](/source/Berlin)) is an [East German](/source/East_Germany) former [race walker](/source/Racewalking).

Sperling represented the sports club TSC Berlin and became East German champion over 20 km in 1966, 1968, 1969 and 1971.[1]

He competed at the [Deaflympics](/source/Deaflympics) in 1961, 1969 and 1977, winning five medals, including three gold.[2]
