# Gerard County

**Gerard Maximin County** (born 1960 in [Port of Spain](/source/Port_of_Spain)) is a [Trinidadian](/source/Trinidadian) clergyman and [bishop](/source/Bishop) for the [Roman Catholic Diocese of Kingstown](/source/Roman_Catholic_Diocese_of_Kingstown). He was ordained in 1996, and appointed bishop in 2015.[1] In 2016, he entered into a partnership with the [Archdiocese of Louisville](/source/Archdiocese_of_Louisville) to renovate the diocesan pastoral center, among other projects intended to aid Kingstown and other small dioceses in the area.[2] In April 2021, following the eruption of the [La Soufriere](/source/La_Soufri%C3%A8re_(volcano)), he sent a message asking for prayers from the people of [St. Vincent and the Grenadines](/source/St._Vincent_and_the_Grenadines)[3] to "bring triumph from tragedy".[4]
