# Gerald Marchand

**Gerald Denys Marchand** (24 April 1921 – 26 March 2005) was a [British](/source/Great_Britain) [canoe sprinter](/source/Canoe_sprint) who competed in the early 1950s. At the [1952 Summer Olympics](/source/1952_Summer_Olympics) in [Helsinki](/source/Helsinki), he finished ninth in the [C-1 10000 m](/source/Canoeing_at_the_1952_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Men's_C-1_10000_metres) event and was eliminated in the heats of the [C-1 1000 m](/source/Canoeing_at_the_1952_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Men's_C-1_1000_metres) event.
