**Georgios Georgakis** (alternate spellings: Giorgos, George, Yiorgos) ([Greek](/source/Greek_language): Γιώργος Γεωργάκης; born 18 March 1991 in [Maroussi](/source/Maroussi), [Athens](/source/Athens), [Greece](/source/Greece)) is a Greek professional [basketball](/source/Basketball) player who last played for [Aris](/source/Aris_B.C.) of the [Greek Basket League](/source/Greek_Basket_League). He is a 2.05 m[1] (6 ft 8 in) tall [center](/source/Center_(basketball)).

## Professional career

Georgakis began his professional career with the [Greek Basket League](/source/Greek_Basket_League) club [Kavala](/source/Kavala_BC) in 2010. In 2012, he signed with [Olympiacos](/source/Olympiacos_BC). With Olympiacos, he won the [EuroLeague](/source/EuroLeague) championship in [2013](/source/2013_EuroLeague_Final_Four).

In 2013, he moved to the Greek club [Trikala Aries](/source/Aries_Trikala_B.C.). After that, he played with the Greek clubs [KAOD](/source/KAOD_BC), [Koroivos](/source/Koroivos_BC), [Doxa Lefkadas](/source/Doxa_Lefkadas_BC), [Iraklis](/source/Iraklis_B.C._(Thessaloniki)), and [Kolossos Rodou](/source/Kolossos_Rodou_B.C.). In January 2020, Georgakis signed with [Aris Thessaloniki](/source/Aris_B.C.).

## National team career

With the junior national teams of Greece, Georgakis played at the following tournaments: the [2006 FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship](/source/2006_FIBA_Europe_Under-16_Championship), the [2007 FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship](/source/2007_FIBA_Europe_Under-16_Championship), the [2008 FIBA Europe Under-18 Championship](/source/2008_FIBA_Europe_Under-18_Championship), the [2009 FIBA Under-19 World Cup](/source/2009_FIBA_Under-19_World_Cup), the [2009 FIBA Europe Under-18 Championship](/source/2009_FIBA_Europe_Under-18_Championship), the [2010 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship](/source/2010_FIBA_Europe_Under-20_Championship), and the [2011 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship](/source/2011_FIBA_Europe_Under-20_Championship).

He won the gold medal at the [2008 FIBA Europe Under-18 Championship](/source/2008_FIBA_Europe_Under-18_Championship), the silver medal at the [2009 FIBA Under-19 World Cup](/source/2009_FIBA_Under-19_World_Cup), and the silver medal at the [2010 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship](/source/2010_FIBA_Europe_Under-20_Championship).
