**State Route 285** (**SR 285**) is a west–east [state highway](/source/State_highway) located in the [southwestern part](/source/Southwest_Georgia) of the [U.S. state](/source/U.S._state) of [Georgia](/source/Georgia_(U.S._state)).

## Route description

SR 285 begins at an [intersection](/source/Intersection_(road)) with [SR 91](/source/Georgia_State_Route_91) (which goes to the state line) southwest of [Donalsonville](/source/Donalsonville%2C_Georgia), in [Seminole County](/source/Seminole_County%2C_Georgia), where the roadway continues as Butler Ferry Road. The route heads southeast along River Road for a short distance before turning and running nearly due east through rural portions of Seminole County. On its way through Seminole County, it intersects [SR 39](/source/Georgia_State_Route_39). Almost immediately after entering [Decatur County](/source/Decatur_County%2C_Georgia), the route meets its eastern terminus. The route creates a direct route from the Florida State line for drivers in towns like [Malone](/source/Malone%2C_Florida) and [Bascom](/source/Bascom%2C_Florida) to get to [US 84](/source/U.S._Route_84)/[Bainbridge](/source/Bainbridge%2C_Georgia). It is close to the FL-GA-AL tripoint.
