**State Route 224** (**SR 224**) is a 29.3-mile-long (47.2 km) [state highway](/source/State_highway_(US)) in the [central part](/source/Central_Georgia) of the [U.S. state](/source/U.S._state) of [Georgia](/source/Georgia_(U.S._state)). It runs southwest-to-northeast in an arc through portions of [Macon](/source/Macon_County%2C_Georgia) and [Houston](/source/Houston_County%2C_Georgia) [counties](/source/County_(United_States)).

## Route description

SR 224 begins at an [intersection](/source/Intersection_(road)) with [SR 26](/source/Georgia_State_Route_26) (Spaulding Road) just east of [Montezuma](/source/Montezuma%2C_Georgia). Just before entering [Perry](/source/Perry%2C_Georgia), it meets [SR 127](/source/Georgia_State_Route_127) (Marshallville Road). SR 127 begins a concurrency into town. In Perry, the two routes intersect [US 41](/source/U.S._Route_41_in_Georgia)/[SR 7](/source/Georgia_State_Route_7), which join the concurrency. Immediately after that intersection is an [interchange](/source/Interchange_(road)) with [Interstate 75](/source/Interstate_75_in_Georgia) (I-75). Shortly after, SR 224 departs to the southeast, while US 41/SR 7/SR 127 head to the northeast into downtown Perry on General Courtney Hodges Boulevard. The highway heads southeast through rural areas until it meets its eastern terminus, an intersection with [US 341](/source/U.S._Route_341)/[SR 11](/source/Georgia_State_Route_11) (Main Street) southeast of Perry.[1]

SR 224 is not part of the [National Highway System](/source/National_Highway_System_(United_States)), a system of roadways important to the nation's economy, defense, and mobility.[2]
