Weissleder was born in [Hartford, Wisconsin](/source/Hartford%2C_Wisconsin).<ref>{{cite book|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=OkflAAAAMAAJ&pg=PA641 |title=Biographical Sketches|year=1913|publisher=Wisconsin Blue Book|accessdate=2014-02-03}}</ref> He attended [Marquette University](/source/Marquette_University) and [Milwaukee Law School](/source/Milwaukee_Law_School).

On August 27, 1913, Weissleder married Anna M. Fuhrmann. They had two children. Weissleder was elected to the Senate in 1912. In 1932, he was elected to the Assembly to succeed [Otto Kehrein](/source/Otto_Kehrein).
