# George Strangways

**George Strangways,** was an [Oxford college](/source/Colleges_of_the_University_of_Oxford) head in the 15th century.[1]

Strangways became a Fellow of [Lincoln College, Oxford](/source/Lincoln_College,_Oxford) in 1474 and was elected its [Rector](/source/Rector_(college)) in January 1480.[2] He resigned the Rectorship in 1488. He later became Archdeacon of Coventry[3] and was a chaplain to king [Henry VII](/source/Henry_VII_of_England).[4] He is buried at [St Michael's Church, Oxford](/source/St_Michael_at_the_North_Gate).[5]
