# George Probert (MP)

**Sir George Probert** [DL](/source/Deputy_Lieutenant) (c. 1617 – 6 January 1677), of [Pant glas](/source/Pant-glas_Farmhouse,_Llanishen,_Monmouthshire), [Raglan](/source/Raglan,_Monmouthshire), [Monmouthshire](/source/Monmouthshire), was a Welsh politician.[1]

He was the only son of Henry Probert of Pant Glas. He was [knighted](/source/Knight_Bachelor) in 1643.

He was appointed a [Deputy Lieutenant](/source/Deputy_Lieutenant) of [Monmouthshire](/source/Monmouthshire) and served as such from 1660 to his death.

He was a [member](/source/Member_of_parliament) (MP) of the [parliament of England](/source/Parliament_of_England) for [Monmouth Boroughs](/source/Monmouth_Boroughs_(UK_Parliament_constituency)) from 1661 to 1677.

He married Magdalen, the daughter of Sir Charles Williams of Llangibby. They had 2 sons and 3 daughters.
