# Georg Brochmann

**Georg Brochmann** (15 May 1894, [Ullensvang Municipality](/source/Ullensvang_Municipality) – 5 January 1952) born in [Hardanger](/source/Hardanger), was a Norwegian journalist, writer of popular science and playwright, . He was the most productive writer of popular science in Norway in the [interwar period](/source/Interwar_period).[1]In 1916, Brochmann wrote for the socialist newspaper *[Arbeiderbladet](/source/Arbeiderbladet)*.[1] He served as a vice chairman of the [Norwegian Authors' Union](/source/Norwegian_Authors'_Union) from 1938 to 1945.[2] He was arrested by the [German occupants](/source/Occupation_of_Norway_by_Nazi_Germany) and incarcerated at the [Grini concentration camp](/source/Grini_concentration_camp) from January to May 1945.[3] From 1947 to his death in 1952, he was [editor-in-chief](/source/Editor_in_chief) of *[Sjømann](/source/Sj%C3%B8mann)*.[1]
