'''GENUIN''' is an independent classical music label and remote classical music recording studio based in Leipzig, Germany. The term “genuin” comes from Latin and stands for “innate, authentic, not counterfeit.”

== History ==

The company was founded in Detmold, Germany in 1998 as "GENUIN Musikproduktion" by [sound engineers](/source/Tonmeister) Holger Busse and Alfredo Lasheras Hakobian. Five years later, in January 2003, the "GENUIN" classical music label began distributing CDs throughout [Germany](/source/Germany), with most releases produced by its own recording engineers.

In 2005, the company moved from Detmold to Leipzig as a result of which a fruitful collaboration with German broadcaster [MDR](/source/Mitteldeutscher_Rundfunk) and the famed Leipzig [Gewandhaus](/source/Gewandhaus) resulted. In January 2006 Tonmeister Michael Silberhorn joined the company.

During 2009 GENUIN Musikproduktion restructured operations and now consists of its “GENUIN classics” label and music production company "GENUIN recording group."

== Repertoire and awards ==

In addition to the gamut of classical music repertoire, ranging from the Renaissance to New Music, the label also focuses on rarely performed works and promoting talented young recording artists. The label’s catalog now encompasses some 800 classical music albums<ref>{{Cite web |last=Busse |first=Holger |title=The GENUIN catalog with all recordings from 2026 |url=https://www.genuinclassics.com/_new/catalog.php |access-date=2026-03-26 |website=GENUIN |language=en}}</ref> which are distributed internationally through specialist CD retailers, record stores and [online download and streaming platforms](/source/Digital_music_store).

GENUIN recordings have, among other commendations, won the [ECHO Klassik](/source/ECHO_Klassik),<ref>{{Cite web |last=Busse |first=Holger |date=2016-09-29 |title=News: Saxophonist Asya Fateyeva wins 2016 ECHO Klassik Award |url=https://www.genuinclassics.com/_new/news_1.php?k=803 |access-date=2026-03-26 |website=www.genuinclassics.com |language=en}}</ref> the [Opus Klassik](/source/Opus_Klassik),<ref>{{Cite web |last=Busse |first=Holger |date=2019-09-02 |title=News: 4 GENUIN artists among the OPUS KLASSIK winners |url=https://www.genuinclassics.com/_new/news_1.php?k=914 |access-date=2026-03-26 |website=www.genuinclassics.com |language=en}}</ref> the [Diapason d'Or](/source/Diapason_d'Or)<ref>{{Cite web |last=Busse |first=Holger |date=2018-02-27 |title=News: "All-Night Vigil" from the MDR Rundfunkchor receives the Diapason d' Or award |url=https://www.genuinclassics.com/_new/news_1.php?k=873 |access-date=2026-03-26 |website=www.genuinclassics.com |language=en}}</ref> as well as nominations for the [Grammy Award](/source/Grammy_Award) and the [MIDEM Classical Award](/source/Midem).<ref>{{Cite web |last=Busse |first=Holger |date=2009-01-27 |title=News: Sensational Kick-Off for GENUIN this Year |url=https://www.genuinclassics.com/_new/news_1.php?k=476 |access-date=2026-03-26 |website=www.genuinclassics.com |language=en}}</ref>
