The '''Geneva Mosque''', also known as the '''Petit-Saconnex Mosque''' ({{langx|fr|Mosquée de Genève, Mosquée de Petit-Sacconex}}) is the largest mosque in [Geneva](/source/Geneva), [Switzerland](/source/Switzerland). It was financed by the Saudi-based [Muslim World League](/source/Muslim_World_League) and constructed in 1978 in the neighborhood of [Le Petit-Saconnex](/source/Le_Petit-Saconnex).<ref name="US">{{Cite web|title=Switzerland|url=https://2001-2009.state.gov/g/drl/rls/irf/2006/71411.htm|last=Department Of State. The [mosque](/source/mosque) was inaugurated by the [Saudi Arabia](/source/Saudi_Arabia)n King [Khalid ibn Abd al-Aziz](/source/Khalid_of_Saudi_Arabia) and [President of the Swiss Confederation](/source/President_of_the_Swiss_Confederation) [Willi Ritschard](/source/Willi_Ritschard), and is the largest mosque in the city and Switzerland as a whole. The building has space for 1,500 worshippers. It is managed by the Islamic Cultural Foundation of Geneva and the [imam](/source/imam) of the mosque is Yahya Basalamah.
In November 2017, the secretary general of the [Muslim World League](/source/Muslim_World_League) [Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Issa](/source/Muhammad_bin_Abdul_Karim_Issa) said that he will constitute a new board of the Islamic Cultural Foundation of Geneva and that two mosque employees, who have been placed by French officials on an anti-terrorism backlist known as “Fiche S” since at least 2012, will be removed from their posts. He said he had ambitions for the Geneva mosque to become a model of dialogue and integration otherwise the MWL would consider withdrawing all support to the mosque.<ref>{{Cite web|title=Saudi funder announces plans to reform Geneva mosque|url=https://www.swissinfo.ch/eng/society/muslim-world-league-_saudi-funder-announces-plans-to-reform-geneva-mosque/43683620|last=swissinfo.ch|first=S.
