A **gathering place** is any place where people are able to congregate.[1] Gathering places may be [public](/source/Public_space); for example, city streets, town squares, and parks; or private; for example, churches, coffee shops, stadiums, and theaters.

Examples of gathering places include [Stonehenge](/source/Stonehenge), the [agora](/source/Agora) of [ancient Greece](/source/Ancient_Greece), [New York City](/source/New_York_City)'s [Central Park](/source/Central_Park), and [London](/source/London)'s [Trafalgar Square](/source/Trafalgar_Square).
