**Gatecreeper** is an American [death metal](/source/Death_metal) band from [Phoenix, Arizona](/source/Phoenix%2C_Arizona).

## History

Gatecreeper released a self-titled four-song EP in 2014.[1] In 2015, they released a split with the band Take Over and Destroy.[2][3] In 2015, Gatecreeper played the first show at the Rebel Lounge—former site of [the Mason Jar](/source/The_Mason_Jar)—with [The Atlas Moth](/source/The_Atlas_Moth) and Take Over and Destroy.[4]

In 2016, the band was featured on a split with Homewrecker, Outer Heaven, and Scorched.[5][6] In 2016, Gatecreeper released a split with the band [Young and in the Way](/source/Young_and_in_the_Way).[7][8] That year, Gatecreeper released their debut full-length album on Relapse Records, titled *Sonoran Depravation*.[9][10][11][12]

In August 2019, Gatecreeper announced their new album *Deserted*, which was released on October 4, 2019 on Relapse Records.[13] *[Loudwire](/source/Loudwire)* named it one of the 50 best metal albums of 2019.[14]

In January 2021, they released the *[An Unexpected Reality](/source/An_Unexpected_Reality)* EP. The record was ranked number fourteen on *[Revolver](/source/Revolver_(magazine))*'s list of the "25 Best Albums of 2021".[15]

In May 2024, they released their third full-length album, *[Dark Superstition](/source/Dark_Superstition)*.

On November 25, 2024, it was announced that Gatecreeper would support Swedish [melodic death metal](/source/Melodic_death_metal) band [Arch Enemy](/source/Arch_Enemy)'s [European Blood Dynasty 2025 Tour](/source/European_Blood_Dynasty_2025_Tour), with special guests [Eluveitie](/source/Eluveitie) and [Amorphis](/source/Amorphis).[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*]

The band performed at the [Sonic Temple](/source/Sonic_Temple_(festival)) music festival in [Columbus, Ohio](/source/Columbus%2C_Ohio) in May 2025.[16]
