# Gary DeLong

**Gary DeLong** is an American former [soccer](/source/Association_football) [goalkeeper](/source/Goalkeeper_(football)).

In 1958, DeLong graduated from [Balboa High School](/source/Balboa_High_School_(San_Francisco)) in [San Francisco, California](/source/San_Francisco,_California) where he was a 1958 All State/San Francisco Section soccer player.[1] He is a member of the San Francisco Prep Hall of Fame.[2] In 1968, he played nine games for the [Vancouver Royals](/source/Vancouver_Royals) of the [North American Soccer League](/source/North_American_Soccer_League_(1968-1984)).[3] That year, he also earned six [caps](/source/Cap_(sports)) with the [U.S. national team](/source/United_States_men's_national_soccer_team). His first game came in a 3–3 tie with [Israel](/source/Israel_national_football_team) on September 15, 1968. He was also in goal for the 4–0 loss to Israel ten days later.[4] He played three [1970 FIFA World Cup](/source/1970_FIFA_World_Cup) qualification games that year, a loss to Canada on October 17 and two victories over [Bermuda](/source/Bermuda_national_football_team) on November 2 and 10.[5][6]
