# Garret Nelson

**Gerald Garret Nelson** (born 1984) is an American politician. Nelson currently serves as a member of the [Alaska House of Representatives](/source/Alaska_House_of_Representatives) from the 29th district. He was appointed by Governor [Mike Dunleavy](/source/Mike_Dunleavy_(politician)) on December 24, 2025, and sworn in on December 30.[1][2] He replaced [George Rauscher](/source/George_Rauscher), who was previously appointed to the [Alaska Senate](/source/Alaska_Senate) by Dunleavy. He currently works as a salesman, and has prior experience as a cattle rancher, welder and small business owner.
