**Patrick Alexander Hall**[1] (born November 17, 1973) better known by his stage name **Gangsta Pat**, is an American [rapper](/source/Rapping) from [Memphis, Tennessee](/source/Memphis,_Tennessee) who established himself in the [Memphis rap](/source/Memphis_rap) scene during the late 1980s and 1990s. Gangsta Pat is also one of the first rap artists from the city to make the move from an [indie](/source/Independent_record_label) label to a [major label](/source/Major_label) when signing to [Atlantic records](/source/Atlantic_records) during the start of the [gangsta rap](/source/Gangsta_rap) era.[2][3] He wrote, produced, and played all of the instruments on his early releases.[4][5] is the son of [Stax Records](/source/Stax_Records) drummer, [Willie Hall](/source/Willie_Hall_(drummer)).[4]
