**Gamelords** was an American game company that produced [tabletop role-playing games](/source/Tabletop_role-playing_game) and game supplements.

## History

[Kerry Lloyd](/source/Kerry_Lloyd) founded the company, with three friends - [Richard Meyer](/source/Richard_Meyer_(game_designer)), [Janet Trautvetter](/source/Janet_Trautvetter), and [Michael Watkins](/source/Michael_Watkins_(game_designer)) in 1980.[1]: 129 Gamelords was centered in [Gaithersburg, Maryland](/source/Gaithersburg,_Maryland).[1]: 130 Gamelords published the role-playing game *[Thieves' Guild](/source/Thieves'_Guild_(role-playing_game))* in 1980.[2] Looking to produce more group-oriented products for *[The Fantasy Trip](/source/The_Fantasy_Trip)*, [Howard M. Thompson](/source/Howard_M._Thompson) of [Metagaming Concepts](/source/Metagaming_Concepts) signed an agreement in 1982 with Gamelords to create a campaign world for the game, but he terminated the agreement after only two campaign books were published.[1]

When [FASA](/source/FASA) ended its support of *[Traveller](/source/Traveller_(role-playing_game))*, [William H. Keith Jr.](/source/William_H._Keith_Jr.) and [J. Andrew Keith](/source/J._Andrew_Keith) moved their *Traveller* writing to Gamelords.[1]: 120 The Keith brothers wrote seven *Traveller* supplements for Gamelords, including *[The Mountain Environment](/source/The_Mountain_Environment)* (1983), *[The Undersea Environment](/source/The_Undersea_Environment)* (1983), and *[The Desert Environment](/source/The_Desert_Environment)* (1984).[1]: 131

Gamelords was sold to [Tadashi Ehara](/source/Tadashi_Ehara) in 1986.[1]: 131–132
