# Gabriel Coss

**Gabriel Coss** is a [Latin Grammy Award](/source/Latin_Grammy_Award) and a [Regional Emmy Award](/source/Regional_Emmy_Award)-winner [music video director](/source/Music_video_director). Coss also has credits for directing the documentaries *Aljuriya* (2004), *Sonó, Sonó, Tité Curet!!!* (2011) and *Armonía* (Doctv Latinoamérica 2014).[1] In 2005, Coss launched 939 Films with [Israel Lugo](/source/Israel_Lugo), which they merged with Rojo Chiringa Films in 2007.[2]

Coss was awarded the [Best Short Form Music Video](/source/Latin_Grammy_Award_for_Best_Short_Form_Music_Video) at the [7th Latin Grammy Awards](/source/Latin_Grammy_Awards_of_2006) for directing "[Atrévete-te-te](/source/Atr%C3%A9vete-te-te)", co-directed by Jorge "Fish" Rodríguez, and performed by [Calle 13](/source/Calle_13_(band)).[3] "La Jirafa", the fourth single from Calle 13's [debut album](/source/Calle_13_(album)), was directed by Coss and co-directed by Israel Lugo.[4] Coss worked again with Calle 13 on the lead single from their album *[Residente o Visitante](/source/Residente_o_Visitante)* in 2007.[5] "[Tango del Pecado](/source/Tango_del_Pecado)", co-directed again with Lugo, was shot in [Puerto Rico](/source/Puerto_Rico) and it was described as "the story of a catastrophe, a shameless Latin-American version of a *[Romeo and Juliet](/source/Romeo_and_Juliet)*-type of love."[5] The video was nominated for a Latin Grammy Award in [2007](/source/Latin_Grammy_Awards_of_2007) losing to "Ven a Mi Casa Esta Navidad" by [Voz Veis](/source/Voz_Veis).[6]

Coss and Lugo directed Canadian singer-songwriter [Nelly Furtado](/source/Nelly_Furtado)'s "[All Good Things (Come to an End)](/source/All_Good_Things_(Come_to_an_End))", in a video that "finds Furtado frolicking with a male model in Puerto Rico."[7] About the video, Furtado stated: "It's very tropical and romantic. It reminds me of old [Sarah McLachlan](/source/Sarah_McLachlan) videos, it has that element of art to it. It's kind of like cinema."[7] Furtado recorded with Calle 13 a remix version of "[No Hay Igual](/source/No_Hay_Igual)" and shot a video in [La Perla, San Juan, Puerto Rico](/source/La_Perla,_San_Juan,_Puerto_Rico) also directed by Coss and Lugo.[4]

The music video for "[Bendita Tu Luz](/source/Bendita_Tu_Luz)" by Mexican band [Maná](/source/Man%C3%A1) featuring [Juan Luis Guerra](/source/Juan_Luis_Guerra) was directed by Coss and Lugo and was shot at [Santo Domingo](/source/Santo_Domingo) in 2006.[8] Coss and Lugo received a Latin Grammy Award for Best Short Form Music Video in [2009](/source/Latin_Grammy_Awards_of_2009) for "[La Perla](/source/La_Perla_(Calle_13_song))" by [Calle 13](/source/Calle_13_(band)) featuring [Rubén Blades](/source/Rub%C3%A9n_Blades) which was shot at [slum of the same name](/source/La_Perla,_San_Juan,_Puerto_Rico).[9][10] The music video for "Vamo' a Portarnos Mal", included on *[Entren Los Que Quieran](/source/Entren_Los_Que_Quieran)* by Calle 13, was directed by Coss and Lugo in 2010, with locations on Las Monjas, Barrio Obrero and Las Gladiolas at San Juan, Puerto Rico.[11]

Gabriel Coss holds the record for the most Latin Grammy wins as a director, with a total of two.
