The head is deeply inserted into the thorax, and both the head and prothorax are turned strongly downwards.[1] The front legs of the males have a highly enlarged first tarsomere (segment of the [tarsus](/source/Arthropod_leg#Tarsus)).[4]

## Distribution

*G. costata* is recorded from [Bioko Island](/source/Bioko_Island), [Ivory Coast](/source/Ivory_Coast), [Cameroon](/source/Cameroon), [Gabon](/source/Gabon), the [Republic of the Congo](/source/Republic_of_the_Congo), the [Democratic Republic of Congo](/source/Democratic_Republic_of_Congo), [Sudan](/source/Sudan) and [Uganda](/source/Uganda).[5][4]
