The '''Gabbs Formation''' is a [geologic formation](/source/Formation_(geology)) in [Nevada](/source/Nevada). It preserves [fossils](/source/fossils) dating back to the [Late Triassic](/source/Late_Triassic) and [Early Jurassic](/source/Early_Jurassic) [periods](/source/Period_(geology)), and is one of the few formations in the United States known to include the Triassic-Jurassic boundary.<ref name="Lawsfaunas">{{Cite journal|last=Laws|first=Richard A.|date=1982-03-01|title=Late Triassic depositional environments and molluscan associations from west-central Nevada|url=https://dx.doi.org/10.1016/0031-0182%2882%2990036-0|journal=Palaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeoecology|language=en|volume=37|issue=2|pages=131–148|doi=10.1016/0031-0182(82)90036-0|bibcode=1982PPP....37..131L |issn=0031-0182|url-access=subscription}}</ref><ref>{{Cite journal|last1=Taylor|first1=David G.|last2=Smith|first2=Paul L.|last3=Laws|first3=Richard A.|last4=Guex|first4=Jean|date=October 1983|title=The stratigraphy and biofacies trends of the Lower Mesozoic Gabbs and Sunrise formations, west-central Nevada|url=https://www.researchgate.net/publication/237172584|journal=Canadian Journal of Earth Sciences|language=en|volume=20|issue=10|pages=1598–1608|doi=10.1139/e83-149|bibcode=1983CaJES..20.1598T }}</ref><ref>{{Cite journal|last1=Hallam|first1=A.|last2=Wignall|first2=P.
