# Gabai River

The **Gabai River** (Malay: *Sungai Gabai*; [Jawi](/source/Jawi_script): سوڠاي ڬباي), a minor river in the [Langat River](/source/Langat_River) basin, flows from the 1,462-metre (4,797-foot) [Mount Besar Hantu](/source/Mount_Besar_Hantu) in the state of [Negeri Sembilan](/source/Negeri_Sembilan)[1] into the [dipterocarp](/source/Dipterocarp) forest reserve of the [Hulu Langat](/source/Hulu_Langat) district in the adjacent state of [Selangor](/source/Selangor).[2]

## Gabai Falls

In [Hulu Langat](/source/Hulu_Langat), the river descends in a set of waterfalls known as the **Gabai Falls** (Malay: *Air Terjun Sungai Gabai*),[1] a popular attraction for the locals, but relatively unknown with tourists. A cemented path leads from the parking to the lower falls. Along the path several shelters have been built. The upper falls can be reached by trails.[3]
