***Further Definitions*** is a 1962 [jazz](/source/Jazz) [album](/source/Album) by [Benny Carter](/source/Benny_Carter) and his orchestra, rereleased on [CD](/source/Compact_disc) in 1997 coupled with his follow-up album, 1966's ***Additions to Further Definitions***. The earlier album features an all-star octet that includes [Coleman Hawkins](/source/Coleman_Hawkins), with whom Carter had recorded in [Paris](/source/Paris) in 1937, using the same configuration of instruments: four [saxophones](/source/Saxophone), [piano](/source/Piano), [guitar](/source/Guitar), [bass](/source/Double_bass), and [drums](/source/Drum_kit).[1][2]
