## Information

"Funky Days!" was released three months after their debut [studio album](/source/Studio_album) *[Life on da Beat](/source/Life_on_da_Beat)* on July 30, 2003.[1] The single performed well on the [Oricon Singles Charts](/source/Oricon_Singles_Chart), taking #10 for the weekly ranking, and remained on the charts for five consecutive weeks.[2]

The single was released as a standard [CD](/source/Compact_disc) and came with three bonuses: one of five possible [trading cards](/source/Trading_card), a [URL](/source/URL) where fans could download a Lead-themed [wallpaper](/source/Wallpaper_(computing)) and [screensaver](/source/Screensaver), and a Lead 2003 Summer Campaign [postcard](/source/Postcard).[3] Along with the title track and its corresponding instrumentals, the [b-side](/source/B-side) "All My Life ~Manatsu no Umi Monogata~" (ALL MY LIFE ～真夏の海物語～ / *Midsummer Ocean Story*) was included, as was a 2003 [remix](/source/Remix) of their debut song "[Manatsu no Magic](/source/Manatsu_no_Magic)." The 2003 remix was done by AKIRA, who created the side-project PALM DRIVE.[4] While the [music video](/source/Music_video) was released for syndication upon the single's release, it did not become available to purchase until the release of their first video compilation, *[Lead Movies 1](/source/Lead_Movies_1)*, in September of that year.

"Funky Days!" was written and composed by [musical composer](/source/Composer) Shinji Tamura, with lyrics written by [lyricist](/source/Lyricist) Atsuyuki Enokido. The song carried both elements of [pop](/source/Pop_music) and [hip-hop music](/source/Hip-hop_music). The coupling track, "All My Life ~Manatsu no Umi Monogata~," was written and composed by Yasushi Sasamoto.

## Background and composition

"Funky Days!" was written and composed by musical composer Shinji Tamura, with lyrics written by Atsuyuki Enokido.[5] Atsuyuki has written lyrics for the comedy group [No Plan](/source/No_Plan_(owarai)), who occasionally perform music, [Mitsuo Iwata](/source/Mitsuo_Iwata) and Abe Natsumi.[6] Shinji Tamura is most well-known for composing the music for [Namco](/source/Namco) games, most notably *[Tales of Phantasia](/source/Tales_of_Phantasia)* (1999), which is part of the *[Tales of...](/source/Tales_(video_game_series))* [role-playing video game](/source/Role-playing_video_game) series.

The coupling track, "All My Life ~Manatsu no Umi Monogata~," was written and composed by Yasushi Sasamoto, who worked with Lead on their previous songs, "Manatsu no Magic", "[Show me the way](/source/Show_Me_the_Way_(Lead_song))" and "[Fly Away](/source/Fly_Away_(Lead_song))," and who composed much of the music from their *Life On Da Beat* album.[7][8] Yasushi has also worked predominantly with the female vocal group [MAX](/source/MAX_(band)).[9] Their other efforts include [Hitomi Shimatani](/source/Hitomi_Shimatani), [Aya Matsuura](/source/Aya_Matsuura) and [MISIA](/source/Misia).
