The [riding](/source/electoral_district_(Canada)) roughly covers the area in between the three largest cities in the province; [Fredericton](/source/Fredericton), [Saint John](/source/Saint_John%2C_New_Brunswick) and [Moncton](/source/Moncton). Included in the riding are the towns of [Quispamsis](/source/Quispamsis), [Hampton](/source/Hampton%2C_New_Brunswick), [Sussex](/source/Sussex%2C_New_Brunswick), [Fundy-St. Martins](/source/Fundy-St._Martins), [Three Rivers](/source/Three_Rivers%2C_New_Brunswick), [Salisbury](/source/Salisbury%2C_New_Brunswick) and part of [Riverview](/source/Riverview%2C_New_Brunswick). Also included are the area around [Loch Lomond](/source/Loch_Lomond%2C_New_Brunswick) east of Saint John, and the [Kingston Peninsula](/source/Kingston_Peninsula%2C_New_Brunswick).

The neighbouring ridings are [Saint John—Kennebecasis](/source/Saint_John%E2%80%94Rothesay), [Saint John—St. Croix](/source/New_Brunswick_Southwest), [Fredericton—Oromocto](/source/Fredericton_(federal_electoral_district)), [Miramichi—Grand Lake](/source/Miramichi%E2%80%94Grand_Lake), [Moncton—Dieppe](/source/Moncton%E2%80%94Riverview%E2%80%94Dieppe), and [Beauséjour](/source/Beaus%C3%A9jour_(electoral_district)).

==History==
The riding of "Royal" was created in 1914. The name came from the counties of [Queens](/source/Queens_County%2C_New_Brunswick) and [Kings](/source/Kings_County%2C_New_Brunswick), of which it was composed.

In 1966, Royal riding was amalgamated with most of [Albert County](/source/Albert_County%2C_New_Brunswick) and a rural portion of [Saint John County](/source/Saint_John_County%2C_New_Brunswick) into a new riding, "Fundy—Royal". One parish in Queens county was reapportioned into [York—Sunbury](/source/York%E2%80%94Sunbury) at this time. In the 2003 redistribution, it lost almost all of Queens County and a large part of Kings County to other ridings; while gaining western [Westmorland County](/source/Westmorland_County%2C_New_Brunswick). The riding was renamed "Fundy". This name was changed to "Fundy Royal" in 2004. As per the [2012 federal electoral redistribution](/source/Canadian_federal_electoral_redistribution%2C_2012), this riding will gain territories from [Beauséjour](/source/Beaus%C3%A9jour_(electoral_district)), [Saint John](/source/Saint_John_(electoral_district)) and [New Brunswick Southwest](/source/New_Brunswick_Southwest), and lose a small territory to the new riding of [Saint John—Rothesay](/source/Saint_John%E2%80%94Rothesay).

The riding has been one of the most supportive of the [Conservatives](/source/Conservative_Party_of_Canada) in the country, returning a member of that party or its predecessors in every election, except for the [1993 election](/source/1993_Canadian_federal_election) when [Liberal](/source/Liberal_Party_of_Canada) [Paul Zed](/source/Paul_Zed) won and the [2015 election](/source/2015_Canadian_federal_election) when Liberal [Alaina Lockhart](/source/Alaina_Lockhart) won.

Following the [2022 Canadian federal electoral redistribution](/source/2022_Canadian_federal_electoral_redistribution), the riding united Town of [Riverview](/source/Riverview%2C_New_Brunswick) into the riding, taking parts from [Moncton—Riverview—Dieppe](/source/Moncton%E2%80%94Riverview%E2%80%94Dieppe), while losing [Waterborough](/source/Waterborough_Parish%2C_New_Brunswick) to [Miramichi—Grand Lake](/source/Miramichi%E2%80%94Grand_Lake) and [Quispamsis](/source/Quispamsis) to [Saint John—Kennebecasis](/source/Saint_John%E2%80%94Kennebecasis).
