# Fulda, Indiana

**Fulda** is an [unincorporated community](/source/Unincorporated_area) in [Harrison Township](/source/Harrison_Township,_Spencer_County,_Indiana), [Spencer County](/source/Spencer_County,_Indiana), in the [U.S. state](/source/U.S._state) of [Indiana](/source/Indiana).[2] The Spencer County Memorial Forest features a [World War II](/source/World_War_II) veterans memorial.

## History

Fulda was laid out in the 1840s.[3] The community was originally built up chiefly by Germans, who named it after [Fulda](/source/Fulda), in Germany.[4] A post office was established at Fulda in 1850, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1995.[5]

The elementary school closed at the end of the 1972–73 school year; the following school year, all of the students were then bused to [St. Meinrad](/source/Saint_Meinrad,_Indiana) to attend school.

[St. Boniface Catholic Church](/source/St._Boniface_Catholic_Church_(Fulda,_Indiana)) was listed on the [National Register of Historic Places](/source/National_Register_of_Historic_Places) in 1980.[6]
