**Fritz Kirchhoff** (1901–1953) was a German [screenwriter](/source/Screenwriter), [film producer](/source/Film_producer) and [director](/source/Film_director). He was a noted director during the [Nazi era](/source/Nazi_era), directing film such as the anti-British propaganda thriller *[Attack on Baku](/source/Attack_on_Baku)* (1942). His 1942 film *[5 June](/source/5_June_(film))*, showing the German defeat of France in 1940, was banned by [Joseph Goebbels](/source/Joseph_Goebbels) for unclear reasons, although it has been speculated it was to avoid offending the [Vichy government](/source/Vichy_France).[1] After the [Second World War](/source/Second_World_War) Kirchhoff set up his own production company in [Hamburg](/source/Hamburg).
