# Frederick Goold

**Frederick Falkiner Goold** (May 1808 – 1877) was a 19th century[2] Anglican priest[3] in Ireland.[4]

Goold was born in [County Limerick](/source/County_Limerick)[5] on 6 November 1808. He was the youngest son of [Thomas Goold](/source/Thomas_Goold), First [Serjeant-at-law (Ireland)](/source/Serjeant-at-law_(Ireland)) and Master in the [Court of Chancery (Ireland)](/source/Court_of_Chancery_(Ireland)) and Elizabeth Nixon. He was educated at [Trinity College, Dublin](/source/Trinity_College,_Dublin),[6] He was appointed [Archdeacon of Raphoe](/source/Archdeacon_of_Raphoe)[7] on 13 December 1852;[8] and [Private Chaplain](/source/Chaplain) to the [Lord Lieutenant of Ireland](/source/List_of_Lords_Lieutenant_of_Ireland) in 1858.[9] He died at [Bath, Somerset](/source/Bath,_Somerset) on 29 January 1877.[10]

He married Caroline Newcomen, one of the many natural children of [Thomas Gleadowe-Newcomen, 2nd Viscount Newcomen](/source/Thomas_Gleadowe-Newcomen,_2nd_Viscount_Newcomen), and had six children. [His son](/source/Wyndham_Goold) was an [MP](/source/Member_of_Parliament);[11] and his son-in-law a [bishop](/source/Hamilton_Verschoyle).[12]
