In 2006, he won the silver medal in the marathon at the [Commonwealth Games](/source/Athletics_at_the_2006_Commonwealth_Games), and finished seventeenth at the inaugural [World Road Running Championships](/source/2006_IAAF_World_Road_Running_Championships).<ref name=bio>{{World Athletics||name=Fred Mogaka Tumbo}}</ref>
