After his time in the [Volksschule](/source/Volksschule) he learned the trade of a [tool and die maker](/source/tool_and_die_maker). As [military volunteer](/source/military_volunteer) he went to the marine in [Bremerhaven](/source/Bremerhaven). At the local [municipal theatre](/source/Stadttheater_Bremerhaven) he took his first drama lessons with the theatre manager [Karl-Georg Saebisch](/source/Karl-Georg_Saebisch) 1940 and 1941 and worked as [background actor](/source/Extra_(acting)) in an [operette](/source/operette) production. From 1947 to 1950 Delmare as external pupil finished the drama school of the [Hebbel theatre](/source/Hebbel_theatre) in [West Berlin](/source/West_Berlin). From the first four marriages he had five children (three daughters and two sons). The actor was overtaken by several strokes of fate. His daughter Felicitas took her life 1980 after fleeing to West Germany. 1993 - in the birthday night of his father - his son Nici stabs his girlfriend to death.
