**Frank Chambers** (born 3 March 1949) is an Irish former [Fianna Fáil](/source/Fianna_F%C3%A1il) politician from [Newport, County Mayo](/source/Newport%2C_County_Mayo).[1]

## Personal life and family

He is married with four children, and is an auctioneer and farmer.[2] His daughter Lisa was involved in establishing [Renua](/source/Renua) in 2015; she is not to be confused with Fianna Fáil politician [Lisa Chambers](/source/Lisa_Chambers), who is not related to them.[3][4]

## Political career

Chambers was a member of [Mayo County Council](/source/Mayo_County_Council) from 1976.[5] He was first elected [in 1979](/source/1979_Irish_local_elections) and stood down at [the 2009 election](/source/2009_Irish_local_elections).

At the 1997 election to [Seanad Éireann](/source/Seanad_%C3%89ireann) he stood for election by the [Cultural and Educational Panel](/source/Cultural_and_Educational_Panel), but was unsuccessful. After his defeat he was [nominated by the Taoiseach](/source/Nominated_members_of_Seanad_%C3%89ireann), [Bertie Ahern](/source/Bertie_Ahern), to the [21st Seanad](/source/21st_Seanad), but was not re-appointed in 2002. He stood in the [Mayo constituency](/source/Mayo_(D%C3%A1il_constituency)) at the [2002](/source/2002_Irish_general_election) and [2007 general elections](/source/2007_Irish_general_election), but did not win a seat.[6]
