# Fouad Ammoun

Lebanese jurist

**Fouad Ammoun** ([Arabic](/source/Arabic_language): فؤاد عمون; 25 November 1899, [Deir al-Qamar](/source/Deir_al-Qamar) – 11 February 1977, [Beirut](/source/Beirut)) was a [Lebanese](/source/Lebanese_people) [lawyer](/source/Lawyer) and diplomat.[1][2] He served as judge of the [International Court of Justice](/source/International_Court_of_Justice) between 1965 and 1976. He was vice-president of the Court between 1970 and 1976.[3]

He was one of the drafters of the Covenant of the [Arab League](/source/Arab_League).[1]

He was awarded the [Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany](/source/Order_of_Merit_of_the_Federal_Republic_of_Germany) in 1960.
