# Ford, Merseyside

**Ford** is an area and electoral ward in the borough of [Sefton](/source/Metropolitan_Borough_of_Sefton), [Merseyside](/source/Merseyside), England. The population of Ford taken at the [2011 census](/source/United_Kingdom_Census_2011) was 12,731.[1]

Ford is situated to the east of [Crosby](/source/Crosby,_Merseyside) next to [Rimrose Valley](/source/Rimrose_Valley), and north of [Litherland](/source/Litherland) and is in the L21 postcode.

## History

On 9 November 1905 Ford became a separate [civil parish](/source/Civil_parish), being formed from [Orrell and Ford](/source/Orrell_and_Ford),[2] on 1 April 1954 the parish was abolished and merged with Litherland.[3] In 1951 the parish had a population of 1392.[4]
