# Ford, Chivelstone

**Ford** is a [hamlet](/source/Hamlet_(place)) about 6 miles from [Stoke Fleming](/source/Stoke_Fleming), in the [civil parish](/source/Civil_parish) of [Chivelstone](/source/Chivelstone), in the [South Hams](/source/South_Hams) district, in the county of [Devon](/source/Devon), England. Ford contains around a dozen houses and has a ruined chapel.[1] In 1870-72 it had a population of 64.[2]

## History

Ford was recorded in the [Domesday Book](/source/Domesday_Book) as *Forde*/*Forda*.[3] Ford was also known as "Ford juxta Alington".[4]
