==Geography==
The municipality is divided into the [barrio](/source/barrio)s of Fomento (municipal seat) and the village of Jíquimas.<ref name=guije>{{Cite web|url=http://www.guije.com/pueblo/municipios/vfomento/index.htm|title=Fomento|author=Guije.com|accessdate=2007-10-07|language=es}}</ref> Until 1976 the villages of Juan Bravo and [Güinía de Miranda](/source/G%C3%BCin%C3%ADa_de_Miranda) were part of Fomento, when they passed in the new province of [Villa Clara](/source/Villa_Clara_Province), as part of the municipality of [Manicaragua](/source/Manicaragua).
