**Fogn Church** ([Norwegian](/source/Norwegian_language): *Fogn kyrkje*) is a [parish church](/source/Parish_church) of the [Church of Norway](/source/Church_of_Norway) in the large [Stavanger Municipality](/source/Stavanger_Municipality) in [Rogaland](/source/Rogaland) county, [Norway](/source/Norway). It is located on the northwestern side of the island of [Fogn](/source/Fogn). It is one of the two churches for the Talgje [parish](/source/Parish) which is part of the [Tungenes prosti](/source/Tungenes_prosti) ([deanery](/source/Deanery)) in the [Diocese of Stavanger](/source/Diocese_of_Stavanger). The red, wooden church was built in a [cruciform](/source/Churches_in_Norway#Floor_plan) design in 1991 using designs by the [architect](/source/Architect) [Elisabet Breen Fidjestøl](/source/Elisabet_Breen_Fidjest%C3%B8l). The church seats about 190 people.[1][2]

## History

The first church on Fogn was a small chapel built in 1916. In 1991, a new church was constructed to replace the little chapel. The new church was [consecrated](/source/Consecrate) on 17 November 1991.[1][3]
