**Fletcher Peninsula** is a broad ice-covered peninsula which extends into the [Bellingshausen Sea](/source/Bellingshausen_Sea) between the [Abbot](/source/Abbot_Ice_Shelf) and [Venable](/source/Venable_Ice_Shelf) ice shelves in [Antarctica](/source/Antarctica). It was mapped by the [United States Geological Survey](/source/United_States_Geological_Survey) from surveys and [U.S. Navy](/source/U.S._Navy) air photos, 1961–66, and was named by the [Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names](/source/Advisory_Committee_on_Antarctic_Names) for [Fred C. Fletcher](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Fred_C._Fletcher&action=edit&redlink=1) of Boston, a contributor to the [United States Antarctic Service](/source/United_States_Antarctic_Service), 1939–41.[1]
