'''''Five Lessons Learned''''' is the fourth full-length [album](/source/album) by American [punk rock](/source/punk_rock) band [Swingin' Utters](/source/Swingin'_Utters). Released in 1998, it was their second album on [Fat Wreck Chords](/source/Fat_Wreck_Chords).

==Background==
This album's title track was used on the [video game](/source/video_game) ''[Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2](/source/Tony_Hawk's_Pro_Skater_2)'', perhaps making it the band's most widely heard song. "I Need Feedback", however, was the only [single](/source/Single_(music)) released from this album.<ref>[http://www.fatwreck.com/record/detail/573 Fat Wreck Chords, "I Need Feedback"] accessed 1 Sep 2008</ref> Also, the song "This Bastard's Life" is featured in music video game ''[Rock Band 3](/source/Rock_Band_3)''.

The Track "Tell Me Lies" was also featured in a VHS BMX Video called "Dig" Featuring Tim "Fuzzy" Hall and TJ Lavin. The track is played during a Backyard Dirt Session.

''Five Lessons Learned'' is mainly an album of short, fast songs in the '[punk revival](/source/punk_revival)' style - "I Need Feedback" borrows a [riff](/source/riff) from [The Damned](/source/The_Damned_(band))'s "[Neat Neat Neat](/source/Neat_Neat_Neat)" - but there is also a [ska](/source/ska)-esque song ("Unpopular Again"), and an [Irish folk](/source/Music_of_Ireland)-style song ("Fruitless Fortunes"), hinting at the band's future direction, and that of the side-project, the [Filthy Thievin' Bastards](/source/Filthy_Thievin'_Bastards).

The outer and inner cover art is by [photographer](/source/photographer) Steve Zeigler <ref>[http://www.stephenzeigler.com/ Stephen Zeigler, Photographer] accessed 1 Sep 2008</ref> and features black-and-white shots involving guns, crime and [murder scenes](/source/Forensics) (in one picture, the date "[2-14](/source/St._Valentine's_Day_Massacre)-47" is etched in [chalk](/source/chalk)).

The presence of the head of the [Fat Wreck Chords](/source/Fat_Wreck_Chords) [label](/source/Record_label), [NOFX](/source/NOFX)'s [Fat Mike](/source/Fat_Mike), is felt in that he co-[produces](/source/Record_producer) and plays [bass guitar](/source/bass_guitar) on "Unpopular Again". Another of the many guest musicians is [Chris Shiflett](/source/Chris_Shiflett), later of [Foo Fighters](/source/Foo_Fighters).
