Fire statement indicating an observed wildfire in the warned area

A **fire warning** ([SAME](/source/Specific_Area_Message_Encoding) code: FRW) is a warning issued through the [Emergency Alert System](/source/Emergency_Alert_System) (EAS) in the [United States](/source/United_States) by civil authorities[1] to inform the public of major, uncontrolled fires (usually wildfires) threatening populated areas and/or major roadways.[2] A [red flag warning](/source/Red_flag_warning) (issued by the [National Weather Service](/source/National_Weather_Service) when low relative humidity and high winds and temperatures are expected) will generally precede any fire activity by at least one to two days.[3] A fire warning will generally include information on the location and movement of the fire[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*], evacuation instructions[2], and shelter locations.[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*]
