# Fionidae

**Fionidae** is a [family](/source/Family_(taxonomy)) of [sea slugs](/source/Sea_slugs), aeolid [nudibranchs](/source/Nudibranch), [marine](/source/Marine_(ocean)) [gastropod](/source/Gastropod) [molluscs](/source/Mollusc) in the superfamily [Fionoidea](/source/Fionoidea).[1]

## Taxonomic history

This family was expanded to include [Tergipedidae](/source/Tergipedidae), [Eubranchidae](/source/Eubranchidae) and [Calmidae](/source/Calmidae) as a result of a molecular phylogenetics study.[2] This was reversed in 2017 with further DNA evidence and a re-interpretation of genus and family characteristics.[3]
