# Filzmoos

**Filzmoos** is a town within the district of [St. Johann im Pongau](/source/St._Johann_im_Pongau_(district)) in the state of [Salzburg](/source/Salzburg_(state)), [Austria](/source/Austria). Its main income comes through tourism: [skiing](/source/Skiing) in winter and [hiking](/source/Hiking) in summer. The town is approximately 1 km above sea level. Since 2024, Filzmoos has been home to the International Austrian [Yukigassen](/source/Yukigassen) Championships.[1][2]

## Location

Filzmoos sits below the [Gosaukamm](/source/Gosaukamm) mountain range, with the nearest major peak being the [Bischofsmütze](/source/Gro%C3%9Fe_Bischofsm%C3%BCtze) (Bishop's [Mitre](/source/Mitre)), so named due to the shape of its [double summit](/source/Double_summit). The mountain itself is a popular objective for climbers. Northeast of the town is the [Dachstein](/source/Hoher_Dachstein) massif.
