# Fides Romanin

**Fides Romanin** (12 November 1934 – 23 October 2019)[1] was an Italian [cross-country skier](/source/Cross-country_skiing_(sport)) who competed in the 1950s.

She was born in [Forni Avoltri](/source/Forni_Avoltri).

She competed in two [Winter Olympics](/source/Winter_Olympics), serving as [flag bearer for the Italian team](/source/List_of_flag_bearers_for_Italy_at_the_Olympics) at [Oslo](/source/Oslo) in [1952](/source/1952_Winter_Olympics).[2] Romanin finished 17th in the women's 10 km in Oslo.

Romanin also competed in the [1956 Winter Olympics](/source/1956_Winter_Olympics) in [Cortina d'Ampezzo](/source/Cortina_d'Ampezzo), finishing 31st in the 10 km and eighth in the 3 × 5 km relay.

After her 1959 retirement, Romanin married and raised four children. While a mother, she remained active in [nordic skiing](/source/Nordic_skiing), providing an inspiration for future women skiers that included [Manuela Di Centa](/source/Manuela_Di_Centa), [Bice Vanzetta](/source/Bice_Vanzetta), [Gabriella Paruzzi](/source/Gabriella_Paruzzi), and [Stefania Belmondo](/source/Stefania_Belmondo).
