The **Fellowship of Congregational Churches** is a conservative [Congregational](/source/Congregational_church) [denomination](/source/Christian_denomination) in [Australia](/source/Australia). It was formed by the forty congregations of the [Congregational Union of Australia](/source/Congregational_Union_of_Australia) who chose not to join the [Uniting Church in Australia](/source/Uniting_Church_in_Australia) in 1977.

The Fellowship of Congregational Churches was declared to be the [legal successor](/source/Legal_successor_(organization)) in [New South Wales](/source/New_South_Wales) of the Congregational Union of Australia by [Act](/source/Act_of_Parliament) of the [New South Wales Parliament](/source/New_South_Wales_Parliament).[1]

Some [ecumenically](/source/Ecumenism) minded congregations left the Fellowship of Congregational Churches in 1995 and formed the [Congregational Federation of Australia](/source/Congregational_Federation_of_Australia).

The Rev. [Fred Nile](/source/Fred_Nile), a long-term member of the [New South Wales Legislative Council](/source/New_South_Wales_Legislative_Council), served as the President of the Fellowship of Congregational Churches for the years 2007 to 2012, and again for the 2013/2014 year.[2]

In 2021, 28 Congregations were listed on their official website.[3]
