The **People's Movement of Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija "Fatherland"** ([Serbian](/source/Serbian_language): Народни покрет Срба са Косова и Метохије "Отаџбина", [romanized](/source/Romanization_of_Serbian): *Narodni pokret Srba sa Kosova i Metohije "Otadžbina"*), commonly known as the **Fatherland**, is a [political organisation](/source/Political_organisation) in [Serbia](/source/Serbia) and [Kosovo](/source/Kosovo) that represents the [Serbian minority](/source/Kosovo_Serbs) in Kosovo.[1] It is led by the former Mayor of [Zubin Potok](/source/Zubin_Potok), and a prominent figure in the Kosovo Serb community, [Slaviša Ristić](/source/Slavi%C5%A1a_Risti%C4%87).[2]

The organisation has heavily criticised the [Serb List](/source/Serb_List_(Kosovo)), and it claims that Kosovo is an integral part of Serbia.[3]

## History

"Fatherland" was founded on 19 January 2017 in [North Mitrovica](/source/North_Mitrovica) by the former [Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija](/source/Autonomous_Province_of_Kosovo_and_Metohija) board members of the [Democratic Party](/source/Democratic_Party_(Serbia)), [Serbian Progressive Party](/source/Serbian_Progressive_Party), and the [Socialist Party of Serbia](/source/Socialist_Party_of_Serbia).[4] The first president of the organisation was Aleksandar Vasić. In 2018, [Slaviša Ristic](/source/Slavi%C5%A1a_Risti%C4%87) was selected as the president.[2]

The organisation was a member of the [Alliance for Serbia](/source/Alliance_for_Serbia), a major opposition alliance in Serbia, during its existence.[5] The organisation has criticised the [Serb List](/source/Serb_List_(Kosovo)) for participating in the Kosovan elections, and for joining the [Government of Kosovo](/source/Government_of_Kosovo).[3] The organisation boycotted the [2019 Kosovan parliamentary elections](/source/2019_Kosovan_parliamentary_election) as it claims that participating in the Kosovan elections violates the constitution of Serbia, and it called for the boycott of the [2020 Serbian parliamentary elections](/source/2020_Serbian_parliamentary_election).[6][7]

"Fatherland" endorsed presidential candidate [Zdravko Ponoš](/source/Zdravko_Pono%C5%A1) and the [United for the Victory of Serbia](/source/United_for_the_Victory_of_Serbia) (*Ujedinjeni za pobedu Srbije*, UZPS) coalition in the [2022 Serbian general election](/source/2022_Serbian_general_election).[8]
