'''''Fallotaspidella''''' is an [extinct](/source/extinct) [genus](/source/genus) of [redlichiid](/source/Redlichiida) [trilobite](/source/trilobite)s. It lived during the late [Atdabanian](/source/Atdabanian) stage,<ref name="Sepkoski">{{cite journal|last=Sepkoski |first=Jack |title=A compendium of fossil marine animal genera (Trilobita entry) |journal=Bulletins of American Paleontology |volume=364 |page=560 |year=2002 |url=http://strata.ummp.lsa.umich.edu/jack/showgenera.php?taxon=307&rank=class |access-date=2008-01-12 |url-status=dead |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20060905162524/http://strata.ummp.lsa.umich.edu/jack/showgenera.php?taxon=307&rank=class |archive-date=2006-09-05 }}</ref> which lasted from 530 to 524 million years ago during the early part of the [Cambrian Period](/source/Cambrian_Period).

== Distribution ==
The type species, ''F. musatovi'' was collected from the Lower Cambrian of Siberia (later Atdabanian, southern Siberian fold belt, Altay-Sayan region, Lena Stage of the Batenevskiy Ridge).<ref name="Whittington">Whittington, H. B. et al. Part O, Treatise on Invertebrate Paleontology. Revised, Volume 1 – Trilobita – Introduction, Order Agnostida, Order Redlichiida. 1997</ref><ref name="Lieberman 2002"/>

== Taxonomy ==
''Fallotaspidella'' is a derived member of the superfamily "Fallotaspidoidea". ''Fallotaspidella'' is closest to the trilobites with dorsal cephalic sutures, such as ''Bigotina'' and ''[Lemdadella](/source/Lemdadella)'', making it pivotal in the understanding of the development of these sutures. Of all the other Fallotaspoids ''Archaeaspis'' is most related to ''Fallotaspidella''.<ref name="Lieberman 2002">{{cite journal|last= Lieberman|first= B.S.|title= Phylogenetic analysis of some basal early Cambrian Trilobites, the biogeographic origins of the Eutrilobites, and the timing of the Cambrian radiation|year= 2002|journal= Journal of Paleontology|volume= 76|number= 4|pages= 692–708|url= http://paleo.ku.edu/geo/faculty/BSL/JPTrilos2002.pdf|doi= 10.1666/0022-3360(2002)076<0692:paosbe>2.0.co;2|access-date= 2012-09-29|archive-url= https://web.archive.org/web/20110812151230/http://www.paleo.ku.edu/geo/faculty/BSL/JPTrilos2002.pdf|archive-date= 2011-08-12|url-status= dead}}</ref>
