==History==
Falla was founded in 1912 as the ''[hacienda](/source/hacienda)'' Nauyús y Cacarratas, owned by Pepe Planas, a man linked to Falla-Gutiérrez sugar company. After his death (shot by unknown{{citation needed|date=December 2025}}), the Laureano Falla-Gutiérrez Association, which would extend it for the delivery of land made by the [President of the Republic](/source/President_of_Cuba), [Alfredo Zayas](/source/Alfredo_Zayas_y_Alfonso), was in charge of the hacienda. The concession of the latifundium extended the [sugarcane](/source/sugarcane) monoculture in the area and, with it, the development of the current urban settlement.

==Geography==
Located on a rural plain, southwest of [Laguna de Leche](/source/Laguna_de_Leche) (9&nbsp;km far) and south of the [Bay of Buena Vista](/source/Bay_of_Buena_Vista) (28&nbsp;km from [Punta San Juan](/source/Punta_San_Juan)), Falla spans across the state highway "[Circuito Norte](/source/Circuito_Norte)" and the railway. The western old settlement develops around the sugar factory, the eastern new area grows mainly to the north of the [train station](/source/train_station).<ref>{{OSM|n|1529482956|Falla}}</ref>

The village is 15&nbsp;km from [Tamarindo](/source/Tamarindo_(Florencia)), 17 from [Chambas](/source/Chambas), 18 from [Morón](/source/Mor%C3%B3n%2C_Cuba), 24 from [Ciro Redondo](/source/Ciro_Redondo), 28 from [Florencia](/source/Florencia%2C_Cuba), 41 from [Ciego de Ávila](/source/Ciego_de_%C3%81vila) and 81 from [Cayo Coco](/source/Cayo_Coco). The nearest settlements are the villages El Calvario (6&nbsp;km west) and [Ranchuelo](/source/Ranchuelo_(Chambas)) (7&nbsp;km east).

==Economy==
The main economic activity is represented by the [sugar industry](/source/sugar_industry). ==Transport==
Falla is crossed in the middle by the state highway "[Circuito Norte](/source/Circuito_Norte)" (CN). It counts a railway station on the [Santa Clara](/source/Santa_Clara%2C_Cuba)-[Camajuaní](/source/Camajuan%C3%AD)-[Morón](/source/Mor%C3%B3n%2C_Cuba)-[Nuevitas](/source/Nuevitas) line,<ref>{{OSM|n|4330198422|Falla railway station}}</ref> with local and long-distance trains, connecting the village with [Havana](/source/Havana) as well. Falla station is also the terminus of three minor branch lines: one to [Kilo 9](/source/Kilo_9) and  [Punta San Juan](/source/Punta_San_Juan) (Maxímo Gómez), another (closed) to [Chicola](/source/Chicola) (by the [Laguna de Leche](/source/Laguna_de_Leche)), and a third one (industrial) to Ciro Redondo, on the Morón-Ciego de Ávila line. This one serves the sugar refinery "Enrique Varona".
