==Synopsis==
Jean Lambert takes some money from a [cash register](/source/cash_register) to pay off the debts that his [fiancée](/source/fianc%C3%A9e) Madeleine has incurred at the [fashion house](/source/fashion_house) where she works. He is caught and sent to [prison](/source/prison) for two years. Feeling herself abandoned by him, Madeleine enters into a loveless marriage with a [count](/source/count) who is secretly a German [spy](/source/spy). On his release, Jean enlists in the [Foreign Legion](/source/French_Foreign_Legion) and encounters Madeleine again in [Marrakesh](/source/Marrakesh) in [French Morocco](/source/French_Morocco).
