"**For Danzig**" was the official [anthem](/source/Anthem) of the [Free City of Danzig](/source/Free_City_of_Danzig) (now [Gdańsk](/source/Gda%C5%84sk), [Poland](/source/Poland)), used between 1920 and 1939.[a] The lyrics were written by [Paul Enderling](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Paul_Enderling&action=edit&redlink=1), while the music was by [Georg Göhler](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Georg_G%C3%B6hler&action=edit&redlink=1).[1]

After the [invasion of Poland](/source/Invasion_of_Poland) and the concurrent annexation of Danzig by [Nazi Germany](/source/Nazi_Germany) in 1939, "[Deutschlandlied](/source/Deutschlandlied)" was adopted as the official anthem, along with the "[Horst-Wessel-Lied](/source/Horst-Wessel-Lied)".
